A Busy Few Months by Iga Rzebka

8th Apr 2022

Hello everyone, my name's Iga and I’m 12 years old. I’m here to tell you what we did in our class from January to April (roughly).

One of the first things we did was a Science Blast experiment with the Rediscovery Centre. We had to use cabbage water which had a terrible smell. We had to use the cabbage water to test the pH levels of typical household items such as baking soda and lemon juice. Also some of the mixed liquids spilled and we had to clean our tables.

Then in February it was Saint Brigid's Day so we did St. Brigid's crosses to decorate the church. The church even sent Tony to film footage which was supposed to be used in the live mass in the church, but it wasn't. They also invited the other schools but ours and barely mentioned us and they had the biggest thank you to the St Brigid's school which the only thing they did was haul the statue to the church, and the name of course…now that's what I call huge disappointment.

On the last day before St Patrick's Day break we had Irish dancing which was organized by Ms Hickey, it was very fun. We recently started doing persuasive writing and we are now organizing our first (complete) debate, the motion is ‘Should parents control their kids' social media accounts’. We started a new class novel called Benny and Omar and not everyone in the class enjoyed it. We also did a stem challenge where we made catapults using marshmallows. This was as some marshmallows we were shooting landed backwards.

From early October we were preparing for our Confirmation. We also had our ceremony of light before. Finally the day came, and all of us were the best versions of ourselves (hopefully). Everyone who made their confirmation had a great day and on Friday we got our pictures taken professionally and went around to all the classes to show off our outfits.

Also in April we learned a lot about the 1916 rising and the leaders of it we had to write notes in our copies too. And that’s all of the things we did from January to this April.
